I found the perfect hotel in Paracas for travelling on a budget! I don’t usually write guides like this but our hotel in Paracas was so lovely that I can’t stop raving about it!
Paracas is a cute little coastal town in Peru, about a 4.5 hour drive from Lima. My friend Candace and I decided to stay there for a couple of nights so that we could see the Ballestas Islands and the Paracas National Reserve, and from the moment we checked into our hotel, we immediately fell in love with everything about it.
Read on to find out what was so special about Coco Lodge, plus whether I think it is the right hotel for your trip to Paracas.

Where to Stay in Paracas
When my friend Candace and I were looking for places to stay in Paracas, we were looking to stay somewhere nice but also affordable. We knew we wouldn’t be spending too much time actually at our hotel so there wasn’t much point in getting a super luxury one.
We also wanted to be within walking distance to the cafes and restaurants and the main hub of Paracas because we didn’t have a car.
In the end we were tossing up between two hotels and ultimately decided on Coco Lodge. For us. Coco Lodge was the perfect mix of budget and beautiful.
However if you think you will be spending more time at your hotel and will have time to enjoy the facilities, you might want to look at somewhere more luxurious like at the Aranwa Paracas Resort and Spa which is located right on the beach.

Why Stay at Coco Lodge Paracas?
My friend and I were looking for somewhere purely to sleep, but we knew we wanted a private room rather than a hostel dorm. We also really wanted somewhere that was going to feel clean and welcoming.
Even before we arrived at the Coco Lodge, the man at the front desk messaged us on What’s App to make sure he knew what time we were arriving and to check whether we needed anything. He used the cutest GIFS and emojis and we had so much fun responding.
Once we arrived, we were surprised at how shining white the whole hotel was. It truly felt like a beach resort. We were able to get into our room straight away which was up a short flight of stairs and had a view of the town. We could even see all of the way out to the water.
The wifi worked well in the room and the common areas so we were able to save some of our e-sim data.

The room’s balcony did open up to the main road, so it was a bit noisy through the night with the traffic. If you are a light sleeper, you might prefer a hotel further away from the main road like the Atoq Paracas Reserva.
Another huge reason to stay at the Coco Lodge is that even with a competitive price, breakfast is included in the room rate and it is really really good!

My room at Coco Lodge
The rooms at the Coco Lodge are pretty basic but the beds are super comfy and everything is so clean! There were lots of soaps provided in the bathroom which I really appreciate after travelling for so long. When we checked in, we had little chocolates there to welcome us.

Common areas
There is one common area in the hotel which is where you have your breakfast and you can also get tea, coffee and snacks throughout the day.
The breakfast was awesome. The owner was also the chef and cooked us up some mean scrambled eggs and bacon. There was also yoghurt and granola, fruit, bread and cereal and everything was presently with so much care.
One of the things that struck me about this place was that the owners really loved their hotel and cared about their guests.

The freshly baked treats
When we checked in, a woman (I think the owner’s wife) appeared out of nowhere and said “Oh I baked some cupcakes! If you want one they are in the tea/breakfast area.”
Well, we checked out the breakfast area right after dumping our bags in our room and oh my goodness those chocolate cupcakes were to die for. I’m still dreaming about them today.
It’s places like this which have that personal touch that I find really special. In a world full of AI and technology (contactless check ins etc) it’s getting harder to find places and have experiences like this but they are still there to be found.
