Hi! We’re Kerry, Dave & Winnie!
An adventure-loving Aussie couple (plus one floofy bean), living in Vancouver, with a passion for chasing views around the world.
We are photographers, content creators and weekend warriors originally from Sydney Australia now based in Vancouver Canada!
We both work 9-5 jobs but on the weekends we spend as much time as possible exploring the outdoors – hiking, camping, finding cute cabins and of course taking photos on all of our adventures!
I (Kerry) created this blog when we first moved to Canada, to share all of our adventures and hopefully inspire you a little.
Here’s a little about our story
Pre-Winnie: Dave and I met on Tinder in 2015, and after a year and a half of convincing, Dave finally agreed to a 5-week adventure through Peru, Mexico, and the USA in 2017. We hiked the Inca Trail, explored the Amazon, swam with whale sharks, road-tripped through Yellowstone and Utah—and even squeezed in a Disneyland day (because I’m a Disney gal)!
That trip sparked our love for photography (and broke both our point-and-shoot cameras). When we got home, we moved in together and started dreaming up our next adventures and talking about making our first big purchase together: a mirrorless camera!
We began travelling together more and then decided we wanted an EVEN bigger adventure…
Our next trip together was in 2019 to New Zealand on a campervan trip. I planned the whole trip as a surprise for Dave’s birthday. I know right? Pretty great present!
We also went to Hawaii in the same year which is where Dave proposed!
Then somehow came to the conclusion that we wanted to move to Canada for a couple of years. We had everything ready for a June 2020 departure when then the world shut down. With our plans on hold, we spent the next 1.5 years road-tripping around Australia whenever lockdowns allowed. We were lucky to squeeze in an epic trip to Western Australia and a dreamy escape to Byron Bay in between border closures.
2021 ARRIVES
When vaccines rolled out, we finally felt hopeful, but travel was still risky. If we left Australia and couldn’t get back, it could ruin everything. Eventually, with restrictions easing, we made the call TO QUIT OUR JOBS AND MOVE TO CANADA. It was now or never.
There was just one catch—our wedding. We’d been planning it since 2019, and our original timeline no longer made sense. With our visas set to expire, we had to push the wedding back again, this time to May 2023. It was heartbreaking after years of waiting, but we weren’t ready to give up on the wedding we’d always dreamed of.
Then came the realisation… we could have it all!
We planned a small, magical elopement with just immediate family and our amazing celebrant, @themindfulcelebrant. With a few weeks of planning and location scouting, everything came together perfectly. Two days later, we were on a flight to Canada, newly married and full of excitement.
Now we are permanent residents of Canada with our own apartment and puppy, Winnie having the best adventures in the outdoors! Follow our adventures on Instagram @oceanus_adventure.

Outside hiking

- Watch all of the movies
- Go to the back of the plane to see what extra snacks they have
- Get up every 2 hours to stretch your legs
- All of the above (frequent flyer wisdom)
08. Most romantic trip you’ve ever been on:
Hawaii – when Dave and I got engaged
9. Most embarrassing thing you’ve ever done:
I’m not ready to talk about it yet.

- Coffee
